Mountain Hawks fall to Bucknell 1-0 in Lewisburg

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Lehigh fell 1-0 to Bucknell at Varsity Field on Saturday evening, dropping the Mountain Hawks into a first place tie with the Bison in the Patriot League, as well as Colgate and American, who all sit at  3-2 in league play.  Lehigh, ranked fourth in the Mid-Atlantic Region, is now 8-3-1 overall for the year, while the Bison improve to 7-5-3 overall.  The lone goal of the evening was scored by Scott Visnic, assisted by Justin Wolf at the 21:52 mark.

 

Lehigh dominated the match on Saturday, out shooting its counterpart 17-2 and challenging Bison goal keeper Adam Edwards with eight shots on goal, with each getting turned back.  Lehigh keeper Charlie Sales did not record any saves on the night.  Lehigh had two corner kicks on the night, while the Bison had three.  The Mountain Hawks were whistled for eight fouls, and the Bison nine.

 

Seniors Peter Classi and Adam Williamson tied for team high honors in shots with four, while Visnic and Kevin Holmes had the only two shots for the Bison. 

 

Lehigh returns to action on Wednesday evening when the Mountain Hawks travel to Catonsville, Md., to take on UMBC.  Game time is set for 7:00 versus the Terriers, who are currently ranked tenth in the South Atlantic Region.
