Lehigh held its annual banquet last week, as three Lehigh athletes captured awards on the afternoon, in a program that included dinner, presentation of awards, and reflections from the coach and members of the team.

Sophomore Jeff King captured the Athlete of the Year Award, which is presented to the team member who makes the most outstanding athletic contribution to the accomplishments of the team.  King was a Second-Team All-Patriot League selection in 2004 and was one of the top defenders in all of the league in 2004.  King
developed into one of the Patriot League’s top defenders this year, as he made the switch from midfield and wound up fifth in all of the Patriot League, averaging 4.50 groundballs per game.  King led Lehigh with 72 groundballs on the season and also scored one goal, while making 12 starts on the year.

The Scholar-Athlete Award goes to the student-athlete who in the eyes of his/her teammates exemplifies the ideal of the scholar-athlete. This year’s winner was senior Jim Baran, who posted a remarkable cumulative grade point average of 3.97 industrial engineering.  Baran was also the second member of Lehigh lacrosse’s “44” club.

Juniorr Mike Norelli won the Coaches Award at the banquet, which is presented to the individual who made significant contributions to the well being of the team in terms of attitude, improvement, or special leadership.  Noreilli continually helped lead the Mountain Hawks with his positive attitude, work ethic and overall passion for the game.
