Lewisburg, PA – Lehigh was defeated by Patriot League foe Bucknell on Saturday afternoon by a score of 15-6, as the Bison jumped out to an early lead and never looked back.  Greg Morin scored twice for Lehigh, and he now leads the Mountain Hawks with eight goals on the season.  With the loss, Lehigh falls to 0-7 on the season, 0-2 in conference play, while Bucknell improves to 4-4 overall and 2-1 in league action.

Lehigh got on the board first on Saturday, as David Gaunt scored at the 9:03 mark off of an assist from David Walsh.  However, Bucknell came right back with four consecutive goals, and after Wes Fetchet scored at the 13:26 mark, the Bison were ahead 4-1.  Andrew Lucas then scored for the Mountain Hawks to cut the lead in half at 4-2, but Bucknell answered back with two more scores to surge ahead 6-2.  Blake Best found the back of the net at the 7:13 mark of the second quarter and once again, Lehigh cut the lead in half.  Bucknell added one more goal in the first half and was in front 7-3 at the half.

The second half proved to be unkind to Lehigh, as the Bison came out and scored three goals in the first eight minutes to go in front 10-3 and put Lehigh in a very tough spot.  Andrew Mastromonaco and Morin scored for Lehigh, Morin twice, but at that point it was too late.  Bucknell tacked on four more goals at the end to pull away for the 15-6 victory.

Mike Osborne recorded two assists for Lehigh on the day, while Gaunt, Stephen Marino and Walsh each had one.  Fetchet recorded a hat trick for the Bison, as did Patrick Christensen.  Bucknell starting goalie Matt Baran saw 25 shots on the day and sent back six of them.

Tom Ellis saw action for the first 51 minutes of the ball game and sent back 12 shots for Lehigh in goal, while Dusty Granet came in for relief down the stretch and saw four shots in his eight minutes of action.  Tom Weiss continues to be a force for the Mountain Hawks on the defensive end, as he once again led the team in groundballs, this time with five.  Weiss also won eight face offs for the Mountain Hawks, while Blake Best and Jeff King both recorded three ground balls on the afternoon.

Lehigh was outshot by the Bison 39-29, and Bucknell scooped up 41 groundballs to Lehigh’s 21.  The Mountain Hawks return to action on Wednesday when they host Marist from the Ulrich Sports Complex.  That game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 and will be broadcast live on Lehigh’s website at lehighsports.com.
