Ellis stops 19, but Yale stops Lehigh

New Haven, CT – Despite a career high 19 saves from sophomore goaltender Tom Ellis, Lehigh (4-6, 1-2 Patriot League) could not handle Yale (6-2), losing 15-9 on Saturday afternoon. Senior Tony Lowe added four goals and an assist in the effort. Scoring
The Mountain Hawks trailed only 6-5 at halftime and only 9-7 after three quarters, before the Elis pulled away in the final 15:00. Sophomore Greg Morin had a team high three assists on the afternoon. Also scoring goals for the Mountain Hawks were junior Mike Titus, sophomore Andrew Lucas, and freshmen Connor McCarthy and Tony Kritzer.
Ellis set his career high for saves with 19, including nine in the third period. Senior Scott Carpenter led Lehigh with six ground balls.
The loss was Lehigh’s fifth in the last six games. The Elis outshout Lehigh 49-34 on the day and also grabbed the advantage in ground balls, 58-41.
Mike Scaglione and Seth Goldberg each scored three goals for Yale. Scoring twice were Dan Kallaugher, David Schechter, Pat Moylan, and Ned Britt. Britt added three assists for five points.
The Mountain Hawks will return to action on Saturday, when they host league foe Colgate at the Ulrich Sports Complex. Game time is set for 7:00.
