Lehigh breaks three game skid

Worcester, MA – Lehigh got goals from ten different players as the Mountain Hawks picked up their first Patriot League victory of the season, defeating Holy Cross 16-8 on Saturday. The win snapped Lehigh’s three game losing streak and raised the team’s record to 4-4 on the season and 1-1 in league play. The Mountain Hawks used a 5-1 second period to build an 8-3 halftime lead. Sophomore Andrew Lucas capped the second period, scoring his second goal of the game with just one second remaining. Lehigh scored two more goals to open the third period, before the Crusaders could halt Lehigh’s 7-0 run. Each team scored four goals in the period, but the Mountain Hawks outscored Holy Cross 4-1 in the final period to double up the Crusaders. Lucas finished the game with a team high three goals. Sophomore Greg Morin had a game high six points in the contest, including a Lehigh season best five assists. Freshman Mike McConnell added two goals and three assists for five points on the afternoon. Senior Tony Lowe and freshmen Jeff King and Jeff Weiner each scored two goals in the win. King also led Lehigh with six ground balls. Sophomore Tom Ellis turned away 15 Holy Cross shots in the victory. Mark Tarnuzzer had four goals in the loss, while Shaun McGowan and Billy Klotz each chipped in with two. Marty Gilbert picked up a game-high seven ground balls, and Brian Hodgdon turned away 14 shots, but surrendered 16 goals. The Mountain Hawks will look to make it two in a row when they travel to Army on Tuesday. Game time at West Point is set for 7:00. Scoring
