Bethlehem, PA - Lehigh kicks off its season on Monday with the season opener at the Ulrich Sports Complex versus Marist.
The Mountain Hawks, picked to finish fourth in the Patriot League's preseason poll, will look to improve upon last season's 5-9 mark. Senior Tony Lowe and sophomore Andrew Lucas will lead a high-powered offense. Lucas led the league with 41 goals scored, while Lowe finished a close second with 38. Senior defender Scott Carpenter, a second team All-Patriot League selection, and sophomore goalkeeper Tom Ellis will key the Lehigh defense.
Marist enters the game with a record of 0-1 on the season. The Red Foxes were drubbed 12-1 at No. 14 Navy on February 15. Josh Ben-Eliyahu scored the lone Marist goal before the game was called due to weather after the third period. Only Brian Diele's 27 goals last season were more than Ben-Eliyahu's 22 among returning players. Freshman Bobby Gross picked up the start in goal and surrendered all 12 scores for a GAA of 16.00. Last season, the Red Foxes finished at 4-9 overall and 3-4 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
Game time is set for 4:00 at the Ulrich Sports Complex.
