Worcester, MA – Holy Cross ran out to an 18-point lead, and Lehigh was unable to recover, as the Crusaders downed the Mountain Hawks by a score of 90-68 at the Hart Center on Tuesday night. The win marked the 59th straight Patriot League home win for Holy Cross, who is now 18-6 overall and 9-2 in the league. The loss drops the Mountain Hawks two games back of the top spot, with a 7-4 league record (11-13 overall).

After Lehigh grabbed a 6-2 lead early, the Crusaders went on a 17-0 run to build a 19-6 cushion. The Crusaders were paced by ten first half points from Amanda Abraham, who finished the night with a game-high 24 points. Holy Cross led 43-30 at the half.

In the second half, Holy Cross quickly extended its lead out to over 20 points, and never looked back, cruising to the win. The Crusaders shot 48% for the game, and were led by Abraham’s 24 points and 6 rebounds. Freshman Maggie Fontana added 15 points and 6 assists in the win.

Lehigh was led offensively by Anne Tierney’s 15 points and season-high five assists. Carli Toliver added 12 points – 9 in the second half – for the Mountain Hawks. While Lehigh shot a respectable 42% on the night, the Mountain Hawks were an uncharacteristic 10-of-16 (63%) from the free throw line. Lehigh entered the night second in the league, sinking 75% of its shots from the line.

The Mountain Hawks return to action Saturday afternoon at American. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 from Washington, D.C.
