Lehigh opens postseason play
11/14/2003 12:00:00 AM | Men's Soccer
Lehigh will open its 2003 postseason on Friday when the Mountain Hawks travel to Lewisburg to compete in the Patriot League Tournament. Lehigh enters the tournament as the fourth seed and will take on the first seed and host school Bucknell at 1:30. Lehigh has already faced the Bison this season in October, with the game ending in a 2-2 tie. The first match of the day features second seeded Lafayette and the third seed Crusaders of Holy Cross, which gets underway at 11:00. The winners of the two semi-final matches will meet on Sunday at 1:00 in Lewisburg with the winner of that game receiving the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Mountain Hawks match on Friday against Bucknell will be broadcast live on the Lehigh website via cell phone beginning at 1:30 with Micah Hart providing all of the commentary.
Last season, Holy Cross defeated Lehigh in the tournament final. After both teams were even at 0 after regulation and overtime, the Crusaders put in ten penalty shots compared to the Mountain Hawks nine. However, Lehigh was still awarded with the school’s first ever at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament.
