The 2018-19 season is Amanda Youngblood’s first as a member of the Lehigh track and field coaching staff. Youngblood spent the last four seasons as a thrower for Lehigh’s track and field program and will now coach Lehigh’s throwers.
As a student-athlete at Lehigh, Youngblood found success in multiple throwing events. As a senior, Youngblood competed in the ECAC Outdoor Championships in the discus, where she earned fifth place. At the Patriot League Outdoor Championships, she competed in the shot put and hammer throw. During the indoor season, Youngblood set a personal record in the weight throw (16.95 meters), earning eighth place at the Patriot League Championships.
During her junior campaign, Youngblood competed in both the discus and the shot put at the ECAC Championships. She medaled in two events during the outdoor Patriot League Championships, placing second in the discus with a PR of 44.71m and third in the shot put with a PR of 13.87m. During the 2017 indoor season, she competed in the shot put and weight throw in the Patriot League Championships, where she placed third and fourth, respectively.
As a sophomore, Youngblood made her ECAC Championships debut with a seventh place showing in the discus during the outdoor season. She earned Second Team All-Patriot League honors for her runner-up discus throw at the Patriot League Outdoor Championships, where she threw 44.50m.
Prior to coming to Lehigh, Youngblood earned two-time league champion honors in the discus at Oakmont High School in her home state of California. She was named team MVP all four years of high school, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude.
Youngblood graduated from Lehigh in 2018 with degrees in marketing and management. She was named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll as a junior and senior.
