From August of 2003 until July of 2007 Krueger worked for the New Jersey Nets of the National Basketball Association where he started out as an assistant video coordinator and eventually worked his way up to assistant coach.
Krueger served as the assistant video coordinator for one year in New Jersey before moving up to Head Video Coordinator in 2004. The next year, Krueger became an assistant coach with the Nets where among his many duties he helped to prepare the team’s game plans throughout the regular and post season, worked with the perimeter players on their individual skill sets, was responsible for determining opponents’ in-game play calls, and he oversaw the entire video staff. After two years of being on the bench with the Nets coaching staff Krueger moved onto Rutgers University where he served as the Scarlet Knights’ video coordinator for one year.
“I am very pleased to have Ryan join our staff,” Lehigh head coach Brett Reed explained. “His experiences at the highest level of basketball in the world will serve as very valuable to our program.” He continued, “Ryan is known for being a meticulous and dedicated coach who has studied the game extensively. Thus far Ryan has brought a keen basketball analytical eye and has helped us prepare for our opponents through his detailed scouting reports. He has also utilized his experiences gained developing the skills of professional basketball players with our team and team members.”
During the 2008-09 academic year Krueger served as the Athletic Director at Bell High School and Lincoln Middle School before re-entering the coaching profession with the Greenhawks. Krueger has also worked as an individual trainer for Richard Jefferson, currently a member of the NBA’s San Antonio Spurs, from 2004 through the present.
Krueger began his coaching career at Maine Central Institute where he served as a post graduate coach. He then headed to Virginia Commonwealth University where he was a graduate assistant coach during the 2002-03 academic year.
Krueger earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Lehigh in 2000. He later went onto earn a master’s degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2007 in sport leadership.
