Club Sports - FAQ

What are Club Sports?

Club Sports are student run organizations offered at Lehigh that allow students to compete competitively in the sports they love  with other colleges and universities around the region. They offer a chance for students to continue playing sports, while also learning lifelong leadership skills. Students are directly responsible for all aspects of managing and operating a successful organization.

How are Club Sports funded?

Each Club Sport receives a yearly, general allocation from the University to help offset the cost of expenses. Each team charges dues and is encouraged to fundraise throughout the year to support their program.

Do Club Sports have coaches?

Some clubs have coaches, but they are not required.

How do teams travel to games and how far do they travel?

Teams have the option to drive themselves using their personal vehicles or renting a university vehicle. Some teams also travel by charter or school bus. Most teams compete within about 2 hours of campus

How do I become a member of a Club Sports team?

The requirements will vary from sport to sport. Some sports have tryouts, while others are open for all to participate. Reach out to the club you would like to join for more information.

How much commitment is required to join Club Sports?

The level of commitment varies from team to team. Some clubs practice once a week and rarely compete while others practice several times a week and compete nearly every weekend.  Reach out to the club you would like to join for more information.

Who is eligible to participate in Club Sports?

Only full-time Lehigh students who are in good academic and disciplinary standing with the University are eligible to participate in Club Sports.  Rosters must have a minimum of 10 active members and only 10% of the total roster can be graduate students.  Undergraduate students MUST hold all leadership roles.
