Mountain Hawks Top Toledo 5-4 in 10 to Close Out Wolfpack Classic

RALEIGH, N.C. – First-year Megan Lodge clubbed two more clutch home runs Sunday as the Lehigh softball team closed out the Wolfpack Classic with a 5-4, 10-inning victory over Toledo at Dail Softball Stadium. Lodge tied the game at 3-3 with a three-run home run in the top of the sixth inning and then gave the Mountain Hawks a 5-4 lead in the top of the 10th with a leadoff home run.

In the circle, first-year Addison Moorman delivered four innings of scoreless relief to earn the victory.

Lehigh finishes the Wolfpack Classic with three consecutive victories and moves to 8-6 on the season.

Sophomore Kelly Fricker tallied three more hits and junior Peyton Sward added two hits for the Mountain Hawks.

Toledo (1-15) took a 3-0 lead on two Aubrey Hensley's RBI singles in the first and fifth innings, plus an Eli Enriquez home run in the fifth.

Fricker and Sward reached base to open the sixth inning and with two outs Lodge hit a 1-2 pitch out to center field to tie the game at 3-3.

Lehigh took the lead in the top of the seventh when Sward singled home pinch runner Wrigley Fanter but Toledo tied the game in the bottom of the frame when Enriquez scored on a passed ball.

Moorman stranded the wining run at first in the seventh, left the bases loaded in the eighth and worked around a leadoff walk in the 10th to secure the victory. She allowed one hit over four innings with three walks and six strikeouts.

Sophomore Madison Finnerty started and went the first 4.2 innings for the Mountain Hawks, allowing three runs on six hits with two walks and six strikeouts. First-year Maddie Masiko allowed one earned run in 1.1 innings.

The Mountain Hawks were slated to play at the Penn State Softball Invitational next weekend, but those games have been canceled due to unplayable field conditions at Penn State. Lehigh's schedule for next weekend is still up in the air with the next currently scheduled contest being a March 11 doubleheader at UMBC.
