MIAMI – After an outstanding offensive day Friday on the opening day of the 2026 season, the Lehigh softball team could not match that output Saturday on day two of the Felsberg Invitational. Facing ACC member Louisville and tournament host FIU, the Mountain Hawks were blanked twice Saturday, falling 4-0 to the Cardinals and then 6-0 against the host Panthers.
Â
Lehigh totaled just seven hits over the two games, led by sophomore Lizzie Kern, who had a hit in each game as the Mountain Hawks fall to 2-2 on the season.
Â
Madison Pickens drove in Louisville's first two runs with a first inning RBI single and a third inning sacrifice fly. Bri Despines' RBI double put the Cardinals in front 3-0 after three innings.
Â
Lehigh had a strong chance to get back in the game in the top of the fourth inning. With one out, first-year Kyra Neiswender singled for the Mountain Hawks' first hit, and then Kern doubled into the right field corner putting runners at second and third with one out. Louisville's Brooke Gray came back to strike out senior Sydney Parlett and got junior Holly Lovett to ground out to end the threat.
Â
Chelsea Mack went 3-for-3 for Louisville (3-1) and scored the Cardinals' final run when she stole third base and scored on a throwing error.
Â
Junior Peyton Sward and first-year Maia D'Amico had Lehigh's two other hits.
Â
First-year Addison Moorman started in the circle and allowed three runs on six hits over four innings with a walk and a strikeout. Moorman gave way to classmate Maddie Masiko, who allowed an unearned run on two hits.
Â
In Saturday's second game, Kennedy Byrd's RBI single gave FIU (5-0) a 1-0 lead after one inning and the Panthers added three more runs in the second, capped by a two-run double by Zamya McBurrows.
Â
The FIU lead grew to 6-0 on Isabella Perez's two-run home run in the third.
Â
Kern led off the second inning with a single for Lehigh, while sophomore Helen Woloshyn added a bunt single and first-year Megan Lodge drilled a double to deep left for the Lehigh hits.
Â
Junior Maddy Clark went the first three innings in the circle, allowing six runs on nine hits. Masiko followed with three innings of scoreless, two-hit relief.
Â
The Mountain Hawks will close out the Felsberg Invitational Sunday morning against Stony Brook with first pitch set for 9 a.m.
