Whitlock Picks Up Third Patriot League Player Of The Week Award

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Junior captain Nasir Whitlock earned his second consecutive Patriot League Player of the Week award on Monday afternoon. Whitlock has now been named Player of the Week three times this season and twice in a row.
Whitlock led Lehigh to a 2-0 week with wins over Loyola Maryland (1/19) and Lafayette (1/24), averaging 24.0 points, 5.0 assists, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game on 60.9% from the floor, 62.5% from three, and 93.8% from the free throw line.
The Brooklyn Park, Minnesota native scored 28 points with seven assists and two steals against Loyola and converted the go-ahead and-one with 30 seconds remaining, securing the 88-81 victory. He followed that performance up with 20 points, three assists, three rebounds, and a steal in Saturday's 64-59 win over Lafayette.
On the season, Whitlock leads both Lehigh and the Patriot League at 19.8 points per game on 45.8% from the field and 40.2% from three. Whitlock ranks 39th nationally in scoring average.
The Mountain Hawks have won five of their last six games and currently sit in fourth place in the Patriot League with a league record of 5-3. Lehigh returns to the hardwood on Wednesday, January 28 at 6 p.m. on the road against Army West Point.
