Mountain Hawks Welcome Lafayette To Stabler Arena For The Rivalry

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Rivalry, presented by Lehigh Valley Orthopedic Institute, part of Jefferson Health, returns to Stabler Arena on Saturday at 7 p.m. between Lehigh men's basketball and the Lafayette Leopards.
Lehigh (8-12, 4-3 PL) vs. Lafayette (5-15, 2-5 PL) is the oldest and most-played rivalry in the Patriot League, dating back to 1902. The Leopards lead the all-time series 150-98, but the Mountain Hawks have won seven of the past ten meetings.
If Lehigh wins, head coach Brett Reed would win his 296th game, putting him only four away from becoming the second coach in Patriot League history to reach 300 wins. In addition, Reed's record vs. Lafayette would improve to 28-15.
Lehigh hosted Loyola Maryland for a nationally televised contest on CBS Sports Network on Monday. The Mountain Hawks defeated the Greyhounds 88-81 to pick up their fourth win in the last five games. Nasir Whitlock had another big night for the Mountain Hawks, scoring 28 points with seven assists, three rebounds, and two steals on 8-11 shooting and a perfect 9-9 from three. The reigning Patriot League Player of the Week is averaging a league-best 19.8 points per game and 20.0 per game against Patriot League competition. Edouard Benoit contributed 18 points in the win, marking his seventh straight double-digit scoring game. Joshua Ingram posted 14 points, four rebounds, and four assists. Jalen Vazquez stuffed the stat sheet, scoring a career-high ten points with six rebounds, four assists, and a steal.
Lafayette enters Saturday's game with a record of 5-15 and 2-5 in the Patriot League. The Leopards fell 77-73 to Boston University in overtime in their most recent game on Wednesday. Lafayette's two league wins were at Loyola (1/3) and vs. Holy Cross (1/17). Caleb Williams leads the Leopards and ranks fourth in the Patriot League at 16.3 points per game.
Following Saturday's game, the Mountain Hawks will travel to West Point, N.Y. to take on Army on Wednesday, January 28 at 6 p.m.
