Hannon Shines As Lehigh Competes Against Top Competition At Boilermaker Classic

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Lehigh women's golf team opened its fall season Monday with a step up in competition at Purdue's Boilermaker Classic at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex.
 
Through 36 holes of the 54-hole event, sophomore Reese Hannon is unfazed.
 
Hannon carded rounds of 71 and 73 and sits in sixth place in an 81-player field at even par 144. She matched her Lehigh career low round and delivered the 21st round of 71 or better in program history.
 
As a team, Lehigh posted rounds of 322 and 319. The 36-hole total of 641 has the Mountain Hawks 14th in a 14-team field that includes four Power 4 teams.
 
Hannon's opening round 71 included six birdies against one bogey and two double bogeys. She added three more birdies in her afternoon 73 and sits five strokes behind the individual leader Isabel Brozena of Xavier.
 
Senior Yuki Zhu was Lehigh's second-lowest player Monday. Zhu carded rounds of 80 and 83 and sits in 70th place. She carded one birdie in each of her two rounds Monday.
 
Sophomore Alana Hall shot 88 Monday morning with one birdie and shaved 10 strokes off that total in the afternoon with a 78. Hall is tied for 73rd place.
 
Junior Stefania Fedun shot 168 (83-85) over two rounds and sits in 76th place. Classmate Bella Scanapicco is in 80th place at 180 (89-91).
 
Ole Miss leads the team race at two over par 578, two strokes ahead of Indiana. Xavier, Kent State and Purdue occupy spots three through five, with Big Ten member Iowa also in the field in seventh place.
 
The Boilermaker Classic concludes Tuesday with the final 18 holes, beginning with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
