Mountain Hawks In Fifth Place Following Day One Of Patriot League Championships

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Patriot League Outdoor Track & Field Championships began from the campus of the College of the Holy Cross on Friday for Lehigh men's track & field. The Mountain Hawks qualified for three different events in tomorrow's finals and saw an athlete finish in first place.

The Mountain Hawks currently sit in fifth place in the team standings following the first day of competition.
 
JUMPS
In the long jump, first-year Jaden Ferguson took seventh with a jump of 7.12m.
 
MID-DISTANCE
Sophomore Ryan Baker finished 13th in the 10K with a time of 31:36.15. Following him was sophomore Noah Zahn who took 17th at 32:11.14.

Senior Aidan Lynch (sixth, 3:52.89), junior Dan Malatesta (seventh, 3:53.12) and first-year Ian Zalewski (eighth, 3:53.87) all qualified for the finals in the 1500m.

In the 800m, junior Alex Heidemann took ninth with a time of 1:52.26. Behind him was sophomore Aidan LaTourette (14th, 1:53.31) and senior Ethan Hood (18th, 1:56.48).

The team of Alex Heidemann, Ethan Hood, Aidan LaTourette and Aidan Lynch took seventh in the 4x800m with a time of 7:50.66.

SPRINTS/HURDLES
Senior Jonathan Bennett improved to fourth all-time in the 110m hurdles, finishing first in 14.38 to qualify for Saturday's finals. Sophomore Nathan Oliphant also qualified for the finals with a seventh-place finish of 14.74.

In the 400m, sophomore Logan Haverkamp took 15th at 50.12 while first-year Austin Iburg finished in 16th at 50.55.

Tyler VerSchure finished 22nd in the 100m with a time of 11.06.

Both senior Patrez Thomas (third, 52.89) and sophomore Aidan DiBuono (eighth, 54.88) qualified for the finals in the 400m hurdles.

THROWS
Junior Greg Stagliano led the way for the Mountain Hawks in the javelin throw, taking fourth place at 61.33m. He was followed by junior Wil Jaques (fifth, 60.23m), first-year Harrison Keen (seventh, 57.71m), senior Liam Campiglia (tenth, 54.48m) and senior Hunter Rodarmel (13th, 52.65m).

DECATHLON
Senior Gideon Coprivnivar and sophomore Andrew Clark are Lehigh's competitors in the decathlon. After the first day of action, Coprivnicar sits in fifth place while Clark is currently in ninth place.

Coprivnicar took third in the 100m with a time of 11.31 while Clark finished eighth at 11.44. In the long jump, Clark took fifth at 6.53m while Coprivnicar finished tenth at 6.16m. In the shot put, Coprivnicar took sixth at 11.97m while Clark was tenth at 10.50m. In the 400m, Clark placed third at 50.74 ahead of Coprivnicar in sixth place at 51.84.
 
The Mountain Hawks return to action from Worcester on Saturday, May 3 at 8 a.m. for day two of the Patriot League Championships.
