Lehigh Hammers Bucknell 11-0 To Complete Series Sweep

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh completed a three-game Patriot League sweep of Bucknell with a dominant 11-0, five-inning victory over the Bison on an overcast Sunday at Leadership Park.

The Mountain Hawks scored eight runs in the second inning and led 11-0 after three. Seniors Julia Mrochko and Rory Dudley combined to go 6-for-7 with four runs scored and six RBIs to support first-year Madison Finnerty who threw a one-hit shutout for her second win of the series.

Lehigh evens its season record at 18-18 and moves to 6-3 in the Patriot League.

Dudley put Lehigh on the board with a two-run home run to left in the bottom of the first inning, her team-leading fourth of the season.

The Mountain Hawks sent 14 batters to the plate in their eight-run second inning. First-year Kelly Fricker drew a bases loaded walk to put Lehigh up 3-0 and then Mrochko and Dudley followed with consecutive two-run singles as Lehigh's lead grew to 7-0. RBI singles by sophomore Peyton Sward and first-year Helen Woloshyn and a bases loaded walk to sophomore Holly Lovett completed the eight-run frame.
Senior Lindsey Martin singled home Mrochko in the third for Lehigh's 11th run.

Finnerty was outstanding in the circle, allowing just two base runners over her five innings. She hit Savannah Jones with a pitch with two outs in the second and allowed a two-out triple to Haley Speicher in the third for the only Bison to reach base. Finnerty struck out five Bison, including all three batters she faced in the fifth to close out the victory.

Dudley finishes 3-for-4 with four RBIs, while Mrochko was 3-for-3.

Bucknell falls to 9-23 overall and 0-9 in league play.

Lehigh will visit Big Ten foe Rutgers in non-league action Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. before traveling to Colgate next weekend for three league games.
