Fricker Repeats as Patriot League Rookie of the Week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – For the second consecutive week, Lehigh first-year outfielder Kelly Fricker has been named the Patriot League's Rookie of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon. Fricker continued her torrid offensive stretch, going 10-for-15 at the plate and reaching base in 14-of-19 plate appearances in four games for the Mountain Hawks last week.
Fricker recorded at least two hits in all four games last week. The West Chester, Pa., native had a monster game in Sunday's game one series-clinching victory at Colgate, reaching base five times, going 3-for-3 at the plate with two walks, while driving in five runs in the Mountain Hawks' 9-2 victory. Fricker had a two-run single in the fourth inning, giving Lehigh a 4-1 lead and then capped a four-run fifth inning with a three-run bases-clearing double. The five RBIs are the most in a single game this season by a Lehigh player. Fricker had two hits in Saturday's series opener and Sunday's series finale and began her week with a 3-for-3 showing at the plate against Big Ten member Rutgers.
For the season Fricker leads the Mountain Hawks and ranks second in the Patriot League with a .437 batting average and is tied for the league lead with a .490 on-base percentage. Fricker leads the Patriot League and is tied for 20th nationally with 59 base hits and her 12 doubles are tied for second in the league behind teammate Julia Mrochko's 16. She also has 23 RBIs and 29 runs scored, having started all 40 games for the Mountain Hawks.
The Mountain Hawks (20-20, 8-4 PL) are slated to host Monmouth in non-league action Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. on Pride Day, presented by Lehigh's Pride Center and Office of Inclusive Excellence and Belonging.
