Pineda's 70 Highlights Final Round At Spring Jackrabbit Classic

BOULDER CITY, Nev. – Senior Madison Pineda shot a final round 70 to lead the Lehigh women's golf team in the final round of the Spring Jackrabbit Invitational Tuesday at the Boulder Creek Golf and Country Club.

Pineda's 70 is tied for the third lowest round in program history and helped the Mountain Hawks shoot 302 Tuesday to finish the 54-hole event at 905 (298-305-302). The Mountain Hawks finished eighth in the 15-team field, with the final total of 905 also marking the third-lowest 54-hole team total in program history.

Three players shared low honors for the Mountain Hawks with Pineda, first-year Alana Hall and junior Yuki Zhu all tying for 30th place at 11 over par 227.

Pineda's final round included a hole out eagle on the par 5 second hole and then 11 pars and three birdies on holes five through 18. Her 54-hole scores were 75-82-70.

Hall led Lehigh with a 74 in Monday's second round and shot 77 Tuesday with 15 pars, two bogeys and a triple bogey. She shot 76 in Monday's first round.

Zhu opened the tournament with a 72, then shot 77 Monday afternoon before finishing with a 78 that included eight pars on the front nine.

First-year Reese Hannon tied for 44th place at 232 (78-77-77). Hannon made one birdie on Tuesday and made 11 pars between holes seven and 18.

Sophomore Stefania Fedun tied for 52nd place at 235 (75-77-83).

Lehigh's individual, sophomore Bella Scanapicco, carded three rounds of 85 to finish in 85th place at 255.

Host South Dakota State won the team title for its home tournament with a score of 879 (289-292-298). The Jackrabbits bested North Dakota State and St. Thomas by nine strokes.

McKenzie Mages of South Dakota State was the individual medalist at three under par 213 (66-76-71).

Next up for the Mountain Hawks will be ECU's Ironwood Invitational, Mar. 31-Apr. 1 in Greenville, N.C.
