Lehigh Opens Spring Jackrabbit Invitational With Sub-300 Round

BOULDER CITY, Nev. – The Lehigh women's golf team is spending the start of spring break near Las Vegas, with the Mountain Hawks carding rounds of 298 and 305 Monday on the opening day of South Dakota State's Spring Jackrabbit Invitational at Boulder Creek Golf and Country Club. The Mountain Hawks' 36-hole total of 603 has Lehigh in seventh place out of 15 teams.
 
The opening round 298 tied for the fifth-lowest 18-hole team score in program history.
 
Junior Yuki Zhu was the low Mountain Hawk Monday with rounds of 72 and 77 to sit in a tie for 23rd place at 149. Zhu carded four birdies in her morning round of 72 and added a fifth birdie in the afternoon.
 
First-year Alana Hall was the low Mountain Hawk in the afternoon with a round of two over par 74. Combined with a morning 76, Hall is tied for 27th place at 150. Hall made two birdies in round one, while her afternoon round featured 16 pars and two bogeys.
 
Sophomore Stefania Fedun is tied for 35th place at 152 (75-77). Fedun totaled three birdies Monday, including two in round one.
 
First-year Reese Hannon is tied for 47th place at 155 (78-77). Hannon carded two birdies in each round Monday.
 
Senior Madison Pineda shot 157 Monday (75-82) and is tied for 51st place. After making 14 pars in the opening round, Pineda made two of her three birdies on the day in round two.
 
Competing as an individual, sophomore Bella Scanapicco is tied for 83rd place after back-to-back rounds of 85.
 
Host South Dakota State leads the team race at five over par 581, with St. Thomas one stroke behind. North Dakota State sits in third place.
 
Four players are tied for the individual lead at two under par 142.
 
The Spring Jackrabbit Invitational concludes Tuesday with the final 18 holes of play. A shotgun start is set for 11 a.m. ET/8 a.m. PT.
