
Mountain Hawks Head To Annapolis For Patriot League Championships

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -Â The Lehigh track and field teams head to Annapolis, Md., for the Patriot League Championships, Saturday and Sunday at Wesley A. Brown Field House.

The championship meet begins Saturday at 11 a.m. with the women's weight throw, men's pole vault and the start of the heptathlon. Track events begin at 1 p.m. with the 60m dash preliminaries. Sunday's action also begins at 11 a.m. with the women's shot put and triple jump, men's high jump and the start of the final three heptathlon events. Track events begin at noon with the meet-ending awards ceremony set for approximately 4 p.m.

Track events will be streamed on ESPN+. Field events during the championship will not be streamed, but up-to-date content featuring Patriot League multimedia journalist Paige Messier will be available on the Patriot League's Instagram account @patriotleague.

Last indoor season the women finished fifth at the league championship meet in Boston, while the men finished sixth.

Lehigh returns one individual champion from last year's meet, junior Abby Klebe, who won the 800m. Junior Laura Reigle won a Patriot League indoor title in the pole vault as a first year in 2023. The indoor season has seen Klebe set school records in both the 800m and the 1000m. She also teamed with Grace Kennedy, Lauren Bower and Svea Wickelgren to break the school record in the 4x400m relay. Kennedy and Wickelgren are both in the top eight of the Patriot League's top performance list in the 400m, with Kennedy also top eight in the 200m and Wickelgren fifth in the 500m. Klebe's school records are currently the No. 1 time in the league in the 800m and No. 2 in the 1000m.

In field events, sophomore Gaea DePass owns a Patriot League Field Athlete of the Week award and the No. 2 high jump mark.

On the men's side, Skyler Mott returns after finishing third in the high jump last season and owns the No. 4 mark in the Patriot League. Senior Jonathan Bennett posted the No. 5 time in the Patriot League in the 60m hurdles last weekend at the Bucknell Tune Up.Â

In addition to Bennett's time, which earned him a second place finish at Bucknell, senior Jordan Layos finished second in the triple jump. First-year Jaden Green made the finals in the 60m dash and moved into eighth place all-time at Lehigh with his 7.01 mark. Wickelgren (400m), senior Shelby Dejana (60mH) and junior Sarah Goode (pole vault) delivered all-time top 10 additions for the women at Bucknell.

Team-wise, Navy has won the last five championships on the women's side and the last four men's championships.
