Edwards Nets Second Straight Rookie of the Week Award

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh first-year wing Leia Edwards earned her second consecutive Patriot League Rookie of the Week award, the league announced Monday afternoon. Edwards averaged a double-double in two games for the Mountain Hawks last week, highlighted by her first career double-double in Lehigh's 58-54 win over Brown on Sunday.
Edwards' week began with 15 points and a then-career-high nine rebounds last Tuesday at San Francisco. She followed that up with an 11-point, 11-rebound effort as the Mountain Hawks defeated Brown Sunday at Stabler Arena. Edwards added three assists in both of Lehigh's games last week and secured three steals last Tuesday against the Dons.
For the season, the London native ranks third on the Mountain Hawks, averaging 12.1 points per game and leads the team averaging six rebounds per game. Edwards has scored in double figures in five of the seven games she has played in so far this season.
With her win last week, Edwards became the first Rookie of the Week for Lehigh women's basketball since Meghan O'Brien in 2021-22. Edwards is the first two-time Rookie of the Week for the Mountain Hawks since Mackenzie Kramer was recognized twice in 2020-21.
Also on Monday, senior Lily Fandre garnered honorable mention recognition. Fandre averaged 19.5 points over the two games last week, highlighted by a career-high 27-point effort at San Francisco.
The Mountain Hawks (3-5) return to Stabler Arena Wednesday night to host Cornell at 6 p.m.
