Lehigh Welcomes Valley Forge To Grace Hall In Home Opener

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh men's basketball will play its first home game of the season on Thursday evening from Leeman-Turner Arena at Grace Hall on the Asa Packer Campus against the Valley Forge Patriots.
Thursday's game will be played inside Grace Hall, where the Mountain Hawks called home from 1942-1979. The Mountain Hawks last played inside Grace Hall in 2022, resulting in a 97-58 win over Misericordia.
If Lehigh wins, they will claim their first win of the season. In addition, head coach Brett Reed's record against non-Division-I opponents would move to 16-0. Lehigh faced off against Valley Forge last season on November 20, 2024, resulting in a 100-53 victory for the Mountain Hawks.
The Mountain Hawks opened the season against the national runners-up #2/2 Houston Cougars, falling by a score of 75-57. Lehigh played tough against the reigning Big 12 champions, outscoring Houston 34-31 in the second half while holding the Cougars to a 29% field goal percentage in the frame. Junior Nasir Whitlock led the way with 18 points and a career-high nine rebounds. Sophomore Hank Alvey and first-year Caleb Thomas both added ten points apiece, while Thomas led Lehigh with three assists.
The Patriots enter the season off a 11-15 record and 6-10 mark in UEC play in 2024-25. The team's two top scorers, Yasir Rowell and Christian Renninger, are no longer on the roster. Valley Forge returns senior Isaiah Reece, who finished third on the team with 10.8 points per game. The Patriots played in a scrimmage against Williamson Free School of Mechanical Trades on October 22, but Thursday's game against Lehigh will be their first of the season. Thursday's game will go in the records as an exhibition for Valley Forge.
Following Thursday's game, the Mountain Hawks will travel to Morgantown, West Virginia to face the West Virginia Mountaineers on Sunday, November 9 at 3 p.m.
