Edwards Earns Patriot League Rookie of the Week Honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh first-year Leia Edwards has been named Patriot League Rookie of the Week, the league announced Monday. Edwards averaged 23.5 points per game over two games last week for Lehigh, highlighted by a 22-point effort last Wednesday in the Mountain Hawks' 71-57 home win over previously unbeaten Drexel.
Edwards' 22 points against the Dragons came on 8-of-13 shooting from the field. She made one 3-pointer and converted 5-of-7 from the free throw line. Edwards tied for a team-high with six assists against the Dragons and also corralled three rebounds.
On Sunday, Edwards contributed five points and five rebounds at ACC member Stanford.
The London native has now scored in double figures in all three of Lehigh's home games this season. Edwards ranks third on the Mountain Hawks, averaging 11.8 points per game. She is shooting 56 percent from the field and has contributed 4.4 rebounds per game and ranks second on the team with 14 assists.
The Mountain Hawks (2-4) will close out their California trip Tuesday night at San Francisco, with game time set for 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
