Missouri Valley Open and Warrior Duals On Deck For Women's Wrestling

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh women's wrestling will be competing at two different events this weekend. The Mountain Hawks will send a seven-wrestler contingent to the two-day Missouri Valley Open, hosted by Missouri Valley College, Friday-Saturday in Marshall, Mo. Lehigh will also compete at the Warrior Duals, hosted by East Stroudsburg, Sunday at Koehler Fieldhouse, with action beginning at 10 a.m.
 
Last time out, Lehigh picked up a win in its dual meet debut, with the Mountain Hawks winning six of the first seven bouts in a 26-15 victory at Lock Haven. Senior Annika Futch was a winner at 110 and Hattie Mack, Abbi Cooper and Aubre Krazer added wins by technical fall for the Mountain Hawks.
 
The Missouri Valley College Open is billed as the largest collegiate women's wrestling tournament in the country with wrestlers from NCAA and NAIA programs across all divisions.
 
Action begins at 9 a.m. CT both Friday and Saturday from the Burns Athletic Center. Finals and medal matches are expected to begin around 1 p.m. CT on Saturday.

On Sunday, Lehigh returns to East Stroudsburg for the Warrior Duals. Lehigh could wrestle as many as seven duals, with currently scheduled matchups against Elmira College, Sacred Heart, New England College, Liberty and Marymount.

Following this weekend's action, Lehigh will be off from competition over Thanksgiving and will return to action Dec. 4 when the Mountain Hawks host a tri-meet at Leeman-Turner Arena at Grace Hall. Lehigh will wrestle Delaware State at 4 p.m. and East Stroudsburg at 7 p.m. in its home debut as a varsity program.
