BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh men's basketball looks to make it two in a row from Stabler Arena on Friday as the team welcomes the Columbia Lions at 6 p.m.
Lehigh (2-3) and Columbia (3-1) have met 38 times, with the Lions holding a 26-12 advantage in the all-time series. The Mountain Hawks lost a narrow 76-75 game in New York last season but won the previous meeting 79-72 at Stabler Arena in 2021.
If Lehigh wins, they will win their second consecutive game and first over Columbia since 2021. Head coach Brett Reed would win his 290th game, putting him only ten away from becoming the second coach in Patriot League history to reach 300 wins.
Lehigh played its first game inside Stabler Arena this season on Tuesday evening against the Saint Francis Red Flash. Five Mountain Hawks scored in double-figures to lead Lehigh to a 79-62 team victory. Junior captain Nasir Whitlock starred for Lehigh, nearly eclipsing his career-high with 23 points to go along with three rebounds, three steals and two made triples. Sophomores Alfredo Addesa and Peter Kramer both reached new career highs, each posting 12 points. Sophomore Hank Alvey joined his classmates with 12 points himself while grabbing seven rebounds, dishing out four assists and blocking four shots. Junior Joshua Ingram also reached double-figures with ten points, a team-high eight rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Columbia enters Friday's contest with a 3-1 record, defeating fellow Patriot League side Boston U. 54-49 on Tuesday. The Lions began last season with an 8-0 record that included a win over Villanova before ultimately finishing 1-13 against Ivy League competition. Kenny Noland leads the charge for the Lions with an average of 12.8 points per game. Zine Eddine Bedri also averages double-figures at 10.8 points per game for Columbia.
Following Friday's game, the Mountain Hawks hit the road to take on Marist at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 25 before heading out west for the Resorts World Las Vegas Classic over Thanksgiving weekend.
