Lehigh Completes Final Weekend Of Competition Ahead Of The Patriot League Championships

PHILADELPHIA/BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh track and field teams wrapped up their final showings before next weekend's Patriot League Championships with the Penn Relays and Covert Classic.
 
PENN RELAYS
 
In the javelin, Greg Stagliano was the top Lehigh finisher, placing third with a throw of 61.74m. Wil Jacques placed fifth with his mark of 60.31m. 
 
Kevin Harvey had a strong showing in the 5000m, finishing in 14:26.08, good for 46th place.
 
COVERT CLASSIC
 
THROWS:
In the hammer throw, Achilles Mouzakis took third with 56.90m, good for fifth all-time. Jaques followed up his Penn Relays showing with a PR and fifth all-time mark of 62.28m at the Covert Classic. Andrew Clark claimed a PR in the javelin with 41.18m. Liam Lovering won the discus throw with a mark of 49.22m
 
JUMPS:
Daniel Givens placed eighth in the long jump, recording a jump of 6.02m. In the high jump, Eli Aaronson took fifth (1.77m) and Andrew Clark claimed ninth (1.72m). Givens went on to win the triple jump with a winning mark of 13.44m.
 
MID-DISTANCE/DISTANCE:
Lehigh earned the top three slots in the 3000M steeple, led by Connor Malinger in first (9:41.31) as Henry Burd (9:47.97) and Derek Coceano (9:49.45) followed in second and third, respectively. In the 5000m, Ryan Baker had a third-place finish with a PR of 15:33.26.
 
Alex Heidemann won the 800m crossing the finish line in 1:53.84, while Aidan LaTourette (1:56.51) and Thomas Arnold (1:58.48) earned PRs finishing in eighth and 14th, respectively.
 
SPRINTS/HURDLES:
Dan Stipanov won the 110m hurdles with a winning time of 14.89. In the 200m, Jonathan Bennet was Lehigh's top performer, placing third with 23.10.
 
The Patriot League Championships are next weekend on May 3-4 at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pa.
