Lehigh Splits Weekend Between Fred Hardy Invitational and Penn Challenge

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh's whole track and field program opens its outdoor season this weekend with the Fred Hardy Invitational in Richmond, Va. on Friday and the Penn Challenge on Saturday.
A smaller squad, primarily consisting of throwers, kicked off the outdoor season at the Army open last weekend. Junior Greg Stagliano won the javelin throw with a PR and fourth all-time mark of 62.84m. Junior Sharan Shankar and sophomore Joseph Nowakowski picked up PRs in the hammer throw with 44.38m and 41.29m, respectively. On the track, junior Patrez Thomas started off the outdoor season with a PR of 22.61 in the 200m.
Starting off the weekend on Friday at the Fred Hardy Invitational, the men's hammer throw begins competition at 9:30 a.m. Track events start at 10 a.m. with the last event slated to wrap up the meet at 5:20 p.m.
On Saturday at Penn Challenge, field events begin at 11 a.m. followed by action on the track starting at 1:40 p.m. The last event of the weekend is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
