BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh softball team heads to Harrisburg, Va., this weekend for the Weiler Orthodontics Invitational.

James Madison is hosting the invitational and it includes five games for the Mountain Hawks against three different opponents.

The Mountain Hawks will battle James Madison (1:30 p.m.) and George Mason (4 p.m.) on Friday; Vilanova (1:30 p.m.) and George Mason (4 p.m.) on Saturday, and James Madison (11 a.m.) on Sunday.

Lehigh is 2-2 on the young season after splitting its four games at Texas A&M's Aggie Classic. After falling to both Tulsa and No. 24 Texas A&M on Friday, Lehigh shut out Valpo twice on
Saturday.

In a game delayed seven hours due to weather on Saturday, Lehigh blanked Valpo 11-0 in five innings. Junior Maria Urban tossed a complete game, one-hit shutout to lead Lehigh to a 11-0 victory. Of the batters Urban faced, 11 of them grounded out. The Mountain Hawks took Saturday's second game 7-0 with senior Katelyn Young and sophomore Chloe Hess combining on a six-hitter.

Lehigh goes into this weekend's invitational with the reigning Patriot League's Rookie of the Week. Shortstop Peyton Sward went 8-for-9 at the plate over the four games with a double, triple, an RBI, a stolen base, and three runs scored.

Graduate student Josie Charles batted .429 (6-for-14) with three runs scored and three RBIs.

James Madison went 4-1 in its season-opening trip to Jacksonville, Fla. The Dukes were 28-19 a season ago. Lehigh is 2-7 all-time against James Madison with the Dukes winning the last three meetings, including two in 2022.

Defending Atlantic-10 champion George Mason dropped its first four games at Wofford's Inaugural Terrier Invite. The Patriots lead the all-time series 6-3 with Lehigh taking the last two meetings back in 2004.

Villanova went 2-3 opening weekend at Georgia Tech's Buzz Classic. The Wildcats went 37-22 last season. Villanova leads the all-time series 30-22-2 and won last year's meeting at Leadership Park. The teams will meet again in April at Villanova.

Audio coverage of both Lehigh-JMU games will be available on JMUSports.com. Live stats will be available for all five games. There will be no streaming video this weekend.

Lehigh will return to Virginia next weekend for UVa's Rawlings Classic, Feb. 23-25 in Charlottesville, Va.
