Women's Cross Country Preps For Patriot League Championship In Nearby Easton

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh women's cross country will compete in its sixth competition of the year on Saturday at the Patriot League Championships hosted by Lafayette College in Easton on Saturday. The women are slated to begin their race at 11 a.m. on Saturday morning.
Lehigh most recently ran at the ECAC Championships at Van Cortlandt Park in New York City on October 18. The Mountain Hawks put forth a solid showing, placing fifth out of 20 competing teams. Lehigh's top finisher was senior Maddison Hayes, who placed 16th with a time of 21:29.9.
The Patriot League Championships are the second race that Lehigh will run on Lafayette's course this season. The Mountain Hawks and Leopards met for their annual rivalry dual meet race in Easton on September 21, which resulted in a dominant 15-47 win for Lehigh. The Mountain Hawks took home each of the top five spots in the race, led by Hayes (22:02.2), first-year Kaitlyn Highduch (2nd, 22:06.9), junior Lucy Afanasewicz (3rd, 22:13.1), senior Savanah Beavers (4th, 22;17.6) and sophomore Hope Trimmer (5th, 22:26.2).
Lehigh enters the weekend as the 13th ranked team in the Mid-Atlantic region, the third highest ranking amongst Patriot League schools. Following the weekend's races, the Mountain Hawks will be back in action on November 15 for the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional, which is set to be hosted on the campus of Penn State University.
