Lehigh Defeats Lafayette for the 21st Straight Time

EASTON, Pa. - Friday evening, the Mountain Hawks defeated Lafayette for the 21st straight season, winning 27-30. This was Lehigh's 21st straight victory over Lafayette.Â
In the 6K, junior Kaitlyn Highduch was the first Mountain Hawk to finish, winning the race with a time of 21:27.0. Her time was a course best. Senior Grace Hughes was the next Mountain Hawk to finish, placing fifth overall with a time of 22:08.3. Keira Arenholz and Grace Trimmer were the third and fourth finishers for Lehigh.Â
"Obviously, it's great for Kaitlyn up front to win the low stick, but we had a really good pack. It was the depth of our pack. Grace, Keira, Devon and Libby rounded out our top five and got in front of Lafayette's fourth runner to secure the win. They knew they were up against a strong team, and we talked about them running with confidence and poise. I'm proud of the women who stepped up and handled the pressure," said head coach Debbie Utesch.
"Winning our 21st straight dual meet against Lafayette is something we're very proud of. We're proud to continue the tradition, continue bringing home the Brian Mundy trophies back to Bethlehem and making our alumni proud.
"Thanks to all the track and field teams and some of the members of the Lehigh community who made the trek to Easton today," said Utesch.
