Lehigh at Colgate Saturday; Travels to Cornell for a Non-League Matchup on Sunday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh field hockey team has its first road league matchup, traveling to Hamilton, N.Y. on Saturday for a noon contest at Colgate. The Mountain Hawks will remain in New York and play Cornell at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
Lehigh (7-2) is coming off a 2-0 weekend, defeating Boston University 1-0 on Friday in the Patriot League opener, followed by a 2-1 victory over Wagner on Sunday.
Sophomore Ella Stephenson was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week after scoring the lone goal in the rematch of the 2022 Patriot League Championship. Junior goalkeeper Jenny Canoni earned Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week laurels after a weekend of making seven total saves and only conceding one goal off a penalty stroke.
Senior Lotte Smorenburg leads the Mountain Hawks with four goals and three assists. Sophomore Zoe Day contributes three goals and two assists while junior Guusje Hogendoorn has also scored three goals while dishing out an assist.
Colgate is 3-5 overall and 0-1 in conference play, dropping a 2-1 contest versus American on Saturday. Lehigh leads 20-19-1 in the all-time series with the Raiders, most recently defeating them 5-0 last season. Ella Murphy leads Colgate in points with nine (2 goals, 5 assists), while Rachel Alderfer leads in goals with three while adding one assist.
No. 20 Cornell (5-2) defeated Patriot League member American 2-1 in overtime on September 17. The Big Red head into the weekend coming off an 8-0 win over Sacred Heart on Sunday. Cornell is led by a sister duo in Caroline Ramsey (13 goals, 2 assists) and Julia Ramsey (1 goal, 12 assists).
