Micir Announces Mell as Director of Basketball Operations

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh women's basketball head coach Addie Micir has announced the addition of Shawna Mell as the director of basketball operations.
Mell joins the Mountain Hawks following a four-year playing career at Concordia St. Paul, where she graduated in May with a degree in elementary education.
"I am very grateful for this opportunity to join the Lehigh women's basketball family as the director of basketball operations," Mell said. "I am eager to help empower and develop the student-athletes, and the coaches are great mentors and support as I learn and grow in this role. I am excited for the opportunity to learn from some amazing coaches, support the student-athletes, and interact with wonderful staff throughout the university. I couldn't be more thrilled to be a part of the Mountain Hawk family!"
Mell was selected in WBCA's "So you want to be a coach," program, which assists female collegiate basketball players who are interested in pursuing a career in coaching women's basketball by providing them with professional development and career advancement through education, skills advancement, networking and exposure opportunities.
"We are so excited for Shawna to join our Mountain Hawk family," said Micir. "A true worker and team-first player, she will make us better in a multitude of ways. Shawna comes from a competitive basketball background and loves coaching the game. She is also passionate about teaching and educating, which fits the ethos of what our program, Lehigh athletics and Lehigh University is all about."
A Minnesota native, Mell also was an assistant basketball coach for North Tartan, an AAU program that has produced numerous Lehigh women's basketball alumnae.
Mell will be pursuing a master's in educational leadership.
