Lovering, Reigle and Scott Announced as NCAA First-Round Qualifiers

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh's senior Ian Scott and sophomore Liam Lovering from the men's track and field program and first-year Laura Reigle from the women's squad have been announced as participants for the 2023 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships First Round competition in Jacksonville, Fla.

These three Mountain Hawks will compete in the East Preliminary Meet from Wednesday-Saturday, May 24-27 hosted by the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla.

Reigle has qualified for the first round of the NCAA Championships after claiming the 2023 Patriot League Outdoor Track and Field title in the pole vault for a spot on the All-Patriot League first team, clearing 4.04m to break her own school record and capturing the gold medal, which has her ranked 47th in the region. Carrying her momentum from winning the league championship, she then went on to win the 2023 ECAC/IC4A pole vault championship by clearing 4.03m.
 
Lovering is also making his NCAA Championship debut, qualifying for the discus throw after taking home a silver medal and being named second team All-Patriot League with a mark of 52.39m in the discus. Lovering currently sits 43rd in the East Region heading into the meet, with his qualifying mark of 54.08m that he recorded at the Carol and John Covert Classic on April 28.
 
Scott, the 2023 Patriot League Triple Jump Champion, will also be making his first appearance at the NCAA championship meet, after reaching a distance of 15.38m to claim the gold medal and break the school record. That mark of 15.38m has him ranked 37th in the region. Scott followed up his gold-medal performance at the Patriot League Championships with a third-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 14.63m.

Reigle's event is currently scheduled for Thursday, May 24 at 6:30 p.m. while Lovering will throw at 1 p.m. Friday afternoon and Scott will jump at 6 p.m.
