Three Mountain Hawks from the Track and Field Programs have been Selected to the Patriot League All-Academic Team

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Juniors Nina Cialone and Christina Yakaboski from the women's track and field squad and sophomore Patrez Thomas from the men's team have been named to the Patriot League All-Academic Teams, voted on by the league's sports information directors and announced by the league office Thursday afternoon.
To be eligible for the Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and the Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average (GPA) and be a starter or key player in their sport. First-year students or students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor.
Women's Honorees
Yakaboski earns this honor for the third time this season after being named to the Cross Country and the Indoor Track and Field All-Academic team. Holding a 3.95 cumulative GPA as an economics and design major, Yakaboski placed fourth in the 1,500m race with a time of 4:31.50 at the Patriot League Championships. She secured a spot in the finals the day before when she posted a time of 4:33.20 for the fourth fastest time. Yakaboski also competed in the 5,000m at the PLCs and took home a seventh-place finish, doing so with a mark of 17:03.57. The following weekend at the IC4A/ECAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Yakaboski earned a bronze medal in the 1,500m event, crossing the finish line in a personal best time of 4:26.18.
Cialone possesses a 3.94 GPA in cognitive science and earned a fourth-place finish in the triple jump at the Patriot League Championship meet, reaching a distance of 12.14m. She then competed in the triple jump at the IC4A/ECAC Championships, placing 16th with a mark of 11.77m.
Men's Honoree
Thomas has a 3.79 GPA in finance and accounting and earned a bronze medal in the 400m hurdles at the 2023 Patriot League Outdoor Track and Field Championships with a time of 53.71 seconds. Thomas qualified for the finals by finishing second in his heat with a time of 54.52 seconds and was the third fastest time heading into the finals. He then followed up his performance at the PLCs with a silver medal in the 400m hurdles at the IC4A/ECAC Championships, crossing the finish line in 52.42 seconds.
Lehigh will wait and see if anyone qualifies for the NCAA East Preliminaries, which will take place Wednesday through Saturday, May 24-27 in Jacksonville, Fla.
