
Mountain Hawks Drop Series Finale to Visiting Seton Hall

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh softball team dropped the final game of its weekend series against Seton Hall as the Mountain Hawks fell 8-0 in six innings Saturday afternoon at Leadership Park.

The visiting Pirates hit a pair of home runs, with Abby Wingo going 2-for-3 with three RBIs as Seton Hall takes the non-league series 2-1.

Lehigh had at least one hit in every inning but could not push a run across against Shelby Smith. Sophomore Lindsey Martin had two of Lehigh's seven hits, her first two hits of the season.

The Mountain Hawks are now 28-9 on the season.

Seton Hall (24-12) took the lead in the top of the second inning on a solo home run to right field by Kelsey Carr. Jenna Blevins added an RBI single to give the Pirates a 2-0 lead.

Wingo delivered the biggest hit of the day in the third when she hit a drive to deep center that junior Brooke Cannon nearly brought back from over the fence. The ball came out and Wingo's three-run home run extended the Pirates' lead to 5-0.

Taylor Hill doubled home two more runs in the fourth and Seton Hall plated an eighth run in the sixth following a Lehigh error.

Lehigh put two runners on base in the first, third and sixth innings but were unable to score against Smith.

First-year Sydney Parlett doubled in the second inning for Lehigh's only extra-base hit of the day. In addition to Martin's two hits, graduate student Carley Barjaktarovich, first-year Lily Owens, senior Emily Cimino and Cannon all picked up base hits on Saturday.

Junior Katelyn Young started in the circle and took the loss, allowing four runs (three earned) on four hits in 2.1 innings of work. First-year Chloe Hess also allowed four runs, with three being earned) in 3.2 innings of relief.

The Mountain Hawks will be back in action next weekend when they travel to Colgate for a three-game series. A doubleheader is set for Saturday with a single game to follow from Hamilton, N.Y. Start times both days are set for noon.
