
Big Offensive Day Carries Lehigh Past Holy Cross in Saturday Doubleheader

First-year Lily Owens led the way, going 5-for-7 over the two games with five RBIs. Lehigh improves to 38-10 overall and 15-0 in the Patriot League with Saturday's wins. The Mountain Hawks will host Boston University for three games next weekend. Both teams are 15-0 in league play, with the winner of next weekend's series claiming the Patriot League regular season title and earning the right to host the upcoming Patriot League Tournament.
Senior Emily Cimino and junior Brooke Cannon both went 4-for-7 on the day with three runs scored. Cannon added four RBIs and Cimino recorded three.
Game one saw Lehigh do all of its offensive damage in the fourth and fifth innings. Holy Cross committed three errors in the third inning which led to three of Lehigh's four runs. Owens also played senior Josie Charles with an RBI single.
Lehigh added on five more runs in the fourth inning to go up 9-0. An error after a single by Cimino, Holy Cross' fifth of the game, plated graduate student Carley Barjaktarovich with Lehigh's fifth run. Owens followed with a two-run single and the Mountain Hawks tacked on two more on a triple by Cannon and a sacrifice fly off the bat of sophomore Rory Dudley.

Sophia Roncone's RBI single in the bottom of the fourth prevented the shutout.
Junior Katelyn Young earned her 18th victory, allowing a run on three hits with four walks and two strikeouts.
The Mountain Hawks started fast with four runs in the first inning of game two, but Holy Cross' bats also came to life, creating a high-scoring affair.
In the first, Lehigh loaded the bases with one out before Cannon doubled home two runs off the left field fence. Another Dudley sacrifice fly and a double by first-year Sydney Parlett put Lehigh up 4-0 before the Crusaders came to bat.

Holy Cross answered with three runs in the bottom of the first, with the first five Crusaders picking up base hits, to cut Lehigh's lead to 4-3 after one.
Sophomore Lindsey Martin led off the second inning by sending her first career home run over the left field fence, but Callie Thibault's two-run single tied the game at 5-5 in the bottom of the second.

Lehigh went back in front in the top of the fourth when Cimino singled home Barjaktarovich and Holy Cross answered in the bottom of the frame on Anna Brait's RBI double.
In the fifth, Lehigh went in front for good after scoring three runs. Parlett scored the go-ahead run when Charles reached on an error, and two batters later Owens singled home two more to put the Mountain Hawks up 9-6.
Bailey Bates' RBI single pulled the Crusaders back within 9-7, but Young escaped a based-loaded jam with back-to-back strikeouts.
Lehigh tacked on four more runs in the seventh as sophomore Maddy Schmeiser scored on a passed ball, Cimino singled home two and Cannon plated one with a single to shortstop.
Owens, Cimino and Barjaktarovich all went 3-for-4 in game two as Lehigh finished with 15 hits. Barjaktarovich has extended her school-record hitting streak to 31 straight games. She now has 259 career hits, putting her within four of Julie Fernandez's school record of 263.
First-year Chloe Hess started in the circle and was charged with four runs on six hits in an inning-plus. Young went the final six innings to earn her second win of the day. She allowed three runs on five hits with four walks and six strikeouts.
The Mountain Hawks will wrap-up the regular season with a three-game series against Boston University, May 6-7 at Leadership Park. The teams will play a doubleheader Saturday and a single game Sunday with action both days set for a noon start. All three games will be broadcast on ESPN+.
