WORCESTER, Mass. – Lehigh opened its final road series of the regular season with a 6-1 win over Holy Cross Friday at Freshman Field. First-year Sydney Parlett led a 10-hit Lehigh attack, going 3-for-3 with an RBI while classmate Chloe Hess struck out a career-high 10 to support a strong outing in the circle.

Sophomore Lindsey Martin drove in two runs to lead the Mountain Hawks, who improve to 36-10 overall and 13-0 in Patriot League play.

Lehigh opened the scoring with three runs in the top of the fourth inning. Junior Brooke Cannon doubled with one out and scored the first run of the game on a single to center by classmate Amanda Greaney. Martin followed with a two-run double to right center, putting the Mountain Hawks up 3-0.

The Mountain Hawks tacked on two more runs in the fifth to take a 5-0 lead. Graduate student Carley Barjaktarovich led off with a bunt single to extend her school-record hitting streak to 29 games. Barjaktarovich moved to third on a pair of wild pitches and scored on a sacrifice fly by senior Emily Cimino. An RBI infield single by first-year Lily Owens put Lehigh up 5-0 and chased Sophia Roncone from the circle.

Holy Cross (15-33-1, 2-14 PL) scored its only run in the bottom of the sixth when Callie Thibault singled home Anna Brait.

Parlett added an RBI single in the seventh to put the Mountain Hawks up 6-1. She reached base all four times, adding a walk to her three hits.

Owens added two hits, an RBI and a run scored for the Mountain Hawks.

Hess improved to 14-4 on the season, allowing a run on four hits, with four walks and her career-high 10 strikeouts. Jessica Mott reached base three times to lead Holy Cross.

Lehigh and Holy Cross will wrap-up their series with a doubleheader Saturday with game one set to begin at 11 a.m. Both games are scheduled to be broadcast on ESPN+.
