Lehigh Ready for Three-Meet Weekend

4/20/2023 2:58:00 PM | Men's Track and Field, Track and Field, Women's Track and Field

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – With the outdoor track and field season in full swing, the Lehigh track and field programs are readying for a three-meet weekend. Lehigh will have athletes competing at the Virginia Challenge and Moravian's Coach Pollard Invitational with both events running Friday and Saturday. The Mountain Hawks will also send competitors to Saturday's Rider Invitational.

Last weekend, the Mountain Hawks competed in the three-day Bison Outdoor Classic in Lewisburg, Pa. Lehigh athletes contributed 15 additions to the program's all-time top 10 list with senior Kerem Ayhan (800m) and junior Ashley Struck (400m) moving into second place on all-time lists. First-year Abby Klebe ran the fastest time of the season in the Patriot League in the 800m (2:09.45) and was recognized as the Patriot League Rookie of the Week.

Virginia Challenge - Schedule | Live Results
The Virginia Challenge begins Thursday with the hammer throw events and the beginning of the decathlon and heptathlon. Lehigh's contingent will compete Friday and Saturday at Lannigan Field. Friday's track events begin at 3:50 p.m. with the 100m prelims and conclude with the men's 10,000m at 10:50 p.m. Field events begin with the women's discus at 1:45 p.m. and conclude with the women's javelin at 8 p.m.

On Saturday, the women's 100m hurdles kicks off the day at noon, with the meet concluding with the men's 4x400m relay at 3:15 p.m. The men's shot put opens the field portion at 12:30 p.m. with the women's long jump wrapping up the field events at 1:30 p.m.

Ahyan, Struck and Klebe are among the 10-15 Mountain Hawks expected to compete.

Coach Pollard Invitational - Schedule | Live Results
Some Lehigh athletes will make the short trip to Moravian for the Coach Pollard Invitational. Friday's schedule begins at 2 p.m. with the men's and women's hammer throw and the men's and women's shot put. The 10,000 meters for the women and then the men begin at 7:30 p.m.

Saturday action is slated to begin at 11 a.m. with field events plus the 5,000m. The men's 4x400m relay is the final event of the day, set for a 5:55 p.m. start.

Lehigh's expected entrants into the Coach P Invitational are primarily throwers. Sophomore Grace Aggen moved into eighth place all-time in the discus with her performance last week at Bucknell. On the men's side sophomore Liam Lovering is expected to compete after setting another PR and moving into fourth all-time in the men's discus. Lehigh could have 15-20 athletes competing at Moravian. Sophomore Gideon Coprivinicar, who moved into fourth place all-time in the decathlon last weekend, is slated to compete in three events.

Rider Invitational - Schedule | Live Results
The one-day Rider Invitational kicks off at 10 a.m. Saturday from Lawrenceville, N.J. The women's discus kicks off field events at 10 a.m. and the women's 5,000m will start off the running portion of the meet also at 10 a.m. The meet will conclude with the men's 4x400m relay at 6:35 p.m.

The Rider Invitational should have the largest turnout of Lehigh athletes with some 50-plus athletes across the men's and women's teams expected to compete.
