Lehigh Set to Compete in Two Meets This Weekend

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — The Lehigh track and field programs will be competing in two separate meets this weekend, starting at the Raleigh Relays hosted by NC State from Thursday to Saturday and the Monmouth Spring Opener hosted by Monmouth on Friday and Sunday.
Raleigh Relays – Thursday, March 23 – Saturday, March 25
Schedule of Events
The men's squad will open with competition on Thursday followed by the women's program running on Friday. The men will conclude the weekend in Raleigh with the men competing in the 800-meter race.
For the men's team on Thursday, seniors Kerem Ayhan and Brandtson Duffie running in the 400-meter dash while seniors Connor Melko and Jacob Martinez will be racing in the 1,500-meter event. Sophomore Aidan Lynch will run the mile while sophomore Kevin Harvey will run in the 5,000-meter race and senior Tyler French set to compete in the 3,000-meter steeple chase.
On Friday, the women's team will have four Mountain Hawks race in the 1,500-meter event, first-year Lucy Afanasewics, sophomore Maddison Hayes, senior Elena Perez-Segnini and junior Christina Yakaboski. Senior Andrea Miller will run the mile while Yakaboski and sophomore Savanah Beavers will compete in the 5,000-meter race.
The men's program will close out the weekend with Ayhan, Duffie, Martinez, Melko and Lynch all racing in the 800-meter event.
Monmouth Spring Opener – Friday, March 24 and Sunday, March 26

The two-day meet was originally set for Friday and Saturday but has shifted to Friday and Sunday due to the inclement weather scheduled for Saturday.
On Friday, the throwing events of the men's and women's hammer and discus will take place from 12:30 p.m. and on. The women will compete in the 3,000-meter steeplechase followed by the men and the 10,000-meter race will take place following the steeple chase.
On Sunday, field events will kick off the day at 10:30 a.m., starting with the women's long jump, pole vault and the javelin. The women's high jump begins at 11 a.m., which is when the first running event of the day will start. The women's 1,500-meter race kicks things off, followed by the men's 1,500-meter event. The sprints portion will follow the 1,500-meter races, with the women's and men's 4x100-meter, 100-meter hurdles for the women and the 110-meter hurdles for the men, and then the women's and men's 100-meter dash.
The 400-meter races will take place before the 800-meter events follow. The last hurdle events will be the 400-meter hurdles for both genders, which leads to the 200-meter dash for men and women. The 5,000-meter race will precede the final event of the meet, the 4x400-meter relay.
The Mountain Hawks will prepare for the Lafayette Dual, which will be hosted by the Leopards at the Metzgar Fields Athletic Complex on Saturday, April 1.
