
Mountain Hawks Win Team Title at SMSU Spring Classic

LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. – With a final round 303 on Tuesday, the Lehigh women's golf team cruised to the team title at the SMSU Spring Classic at the Wigwam Resort Blue Course. The Mountain Hawks posted a final total of 614 (311-303) to post a 22-stroke victory over second place Bucknell.

The team championship is Lehigh's first since the Mountain Hawks won their Lehigh Invitational in October 2018.

Individually, Lehigh had three of the top five finishers and five of the top 10.

First-year Yuki Zhu led the way, claiming second place at four over par 148 (74-74). After carding five birdies on Monday, Zhu added two more on Tuesday. She finished one stroke behind medalist Emily Shimkus of Colorado-Colorado Springs.

Sophomore Madison Pineda finished in fourth place at nine over par 153 (75-78). Pineda carded four birdies in her final round.

First-year Evelyn Wong made five birdies in a final round 75 and finished in fifth place at 154 (79-75).

Senior Iris Shin was the top individual in the field as she finished in ninth place at 158 (77-81). Shin made two birdies in her final round.

Junior Meghna Grover was the fifth Mountain Hawk in the top 10. She finished in 10th place at 159 (83-76). Grover's final round included one birdie.

Lehigh's fifth scoring player was senior Hannah Foster, who tied for 14th place at 162 (83-79). Foster's final round also included one birdie.

Sophomore Sophie Chang finished in 39th place at 179 (93-86), while senior Marina Mendez finished in 48th place at 185 (98-87).

The Mountain Hawks will return to action at William & Mary's Kingsmill Intercollegiate, March 27-28 in Williamsburg, Va.
