First-Years Pace Mountain Hawks at Kingsmill Intercollegiate

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Lehigh women's golf team finished up action at the Kingsmill Intercollegiate Tuesday afternoon with the completion of round two plus the final round. The Mountain Hawks finished with a team total of 321 in round two on the River Course at Kingsmill Resort and closed out the tournament with a final round 330. Lehigh's final total of 976 (325-321-330) put the Mountain Hawks in 16th place.

The Mountain Hawks were shorthanded from a team standpoint as junior Meghna Grover was forced to withdraw due to illness during Monday's opening round.

First-year Evelyn Wong was Lehigh's top finisher, tying for 28th place at 235 (79-77-79). Wong totaled five birdies for the tournament including two in each of the final two rounds. Classmate Yuki Zhu tied for 39th place at 238 (80-77-81). Zhu finished with four birdies over 54 holes. She and Wong's second round 77 served as the low round of the tournament for Lehigh.

Sophomore Madison Pineda made two birdies in a final round 81 and tied for 48th place at 240 (80-79-81). Senior Hannah Foster shot 263 (86-88-89) and finished in 97th place.

Penn won the team title with a final total of 906 (306-301-299). The Quakers bested High Point by two strokes.

Sarah Kahn of High Point was the individual medalist at three under par 213 (71-73-69). She posted a 10-stroke victory over four players who tied for second.

The Mountain Hawks will return to action at Howard's Bison Invitational April 10-11 in Timonium, Md. It will be Lehigh's final tune-up before the Patriot League Championship in Midlothian, Va.
