Mountain Hawks Tie For 10th Place at Spring-Opening Tournament

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. – The Lehigh women's golf team saved its best for last at the spring-opening Lady Bison Invitational as the Mountain Hawks shot 319 as a team Tuesday at Bay Point Golf Club. Three Mountain Hawks shot below 80 Tuesday as Lehigh's 319 combined with back-to-back rounds of 323 left the Mountain Hawks with a final total 965, tying Lehigh for 10th in a 15-team field.

First-years Yuki Zhu and Evelyn Wong tied for low Lehigh player honors, tying for 21st place at 235. Zhu made two birdies in a final round 79 to finish 74-82-79 while Wong carded three birdies in a final round 78, finishing 83-74-78.

Sophomore Madison Pineda matched Wong with a 78 to lead Lehigh on Tuesday. Pineda tied for 34th place at 239 (82-79-78).

Senior Iris Shin tied for 71st place at 261 (84-88-89) and senior Hannah Foster finished with her best round of the tournament, an 84, to tie for 73rd at 262 (87-91-84).

Host Lipscomb won the team title at 909 (291-311-307), four strokes better than runner-up Florida Gulf Coast.

The individual medalist was Laerke Jensen of Charleston Southern at six over par 222 (73-75-74). Jensen bested Sarah Frazier of Dayton by two strokes.

Next up for the Mountain Hawks will be the SMSU Spring Classic, hosted by Southwest Minnesota State March 13-14 in Litchfield Park, Ariz.
