Lehigh Closes Out Regular Season With Trip to Boston University

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's basketball squad travels to Boston University to conclude the 2022-23 regular season with a Patriot League contest Saturday inside Case Gym. Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and Fox Sports Radio 94.7 FM and 1230 AM.
Lehigh (16-12, 11-6 PL) enters the game after winning back-to-back contests over American (62-59) on the road and Bucknell (78-62) inside Stabler Arena. The Mountain earned the season sweep of both the Eagles and Bison, but now Lehigh has claimed back-to-back series sweeps of both American and Bucknell. The Brown and White put five guys in double-figures in the win over Bucknell on Wednesday night, led by sophomore Tyler Whitney-Sidney, who had 20 points and four assists to go with five rebounds and a clean 5-for-5 night at the free-throw line. Classmate Keith Higgins Jr. scored 15 points and added two boards and an assist while junior JT Tan scored a career-best 11 points on 4-for-5 shooting, to go with a team-high six rebounds and two blocked shots. Junior Dominic Parolin also contributed 11 points, four boards, a steal and one assist while senior Evan Taylor tallied 10 points with four rebounds, a block and a steal to round out the five double-digit scorers
Three Mountain Hawks are scoring at least 13 points per game, led by Higgins Jr. averaging 14.9 points per game and 1.8 assists per contest to go with a team-leading 60 three-pointers. Taylor, who sits 26th all-time with 1,162 career points, is contributing 14.3 points with 6.4 rebounds per contest while Whitney-Sidney is scoring 13.4 points per outing, and a team-leading 36 steals and 2.3 assists per game, along with 4.8 rebounds.

Boston University (14-16, 7-10 PL) enters Saturday's game on a two-game winning streak after taking down Army West Point on the road (73-67). The Terriers also defeated Bucknell on Feb. 18 (77-61) to sweep the Bison. Against the Black Knights, Boston University scored the final six points to pull out a 73-67 win inside Christl Arena. BU only shot 42.4 percent from the field and held Army to 46.3 FG% but posted advantages in made 3-pointers (7-5) and free throws (16-12). Senior Ethan Brittain-Watts went a perfect 3-of-3 from three-point territory and 5-of-5 at the charity stripe en route to a team-high 16 points. Graduate student Jonas Harper matched Brittain-Watts with three assists alongside 13 points and two steals. Classmate Fletcher Tynen totaled 10 points, and freshman Otto Landrum recorded team-high six rebounds with eight points. BU and Lehigh have only one non-league opponent in common, Marist, which both squads came away victorious. Other big opponents that the Terriers have gone up against include UConn (L 86-57) and Notre Dame (L 81-75).
Two Terriers are averaging double-digits, led by Walter Whyte, scoring at a clip of 14.5 points and bringing down 5.8 rebounds a game. Whyte also leads the squad in blocked shots with 16. Jonas Harper is averaging 10.5 points per outing and a team-high in made three-pointers (53) and steals (40). Just outside of double-figures is Ethan Brittain-Watts, scoring 9.0 points per game and leads BU with 57 assists.

BU leads the series 12-9 but both squads are 5-5 in the last ten games. Lehigh snapped a three-game losing streak to the Terries when the Mountain Hawks earned a home victory (66-55) in their first meeting that was live on CBS Sports Network on Jan. 29. Lehigh's last win inside of Case Gym was in 2019, which was the last year that the Mountain Hawks earned a series sweep of the Terriers.
Lehigh has clinched a home Patriot League quarterfinal game and is still waiting to find out its opponent, but the game will take place on Thursday, March 2 at 7 p.m. inside Stabler Arena. Tickets for the Patriot League quarterfinal are on sale and can be purchased HERE.
