Lehigh Travels to Washington D.C. for Road Game with American

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's basketball team travels to Washington D.C. for a Patriot League contest with American Saturday afternoon inside Bender Arena with game time set for 2 p.m.
 
Lehigh (14-12, 9-6 PL) enters the game on a three-game losing streak after falling to Navy 75-64 at home on Wednesday evening. Senior Evan Taylor and Keith Higgins Jr. ended the night with 14 points each. Taylor shot 5-of-19 from the field with two three-pointers and six rebounds while Higgins Jr. was 5-for-11 from the floor and also recorded two treys to go with two steals, two boards and an assist. Sophomore Tyler Whitney-Sidney tossed in 13 points and a team-high seven rebounds while shooting 4-for-10 from the field and 4-for-4 at the foul line. Also reaching double-digits was junior Dominic Parolin with 10 points, four boards, and an assist.
 
Senior Evan Taylor and sophomores Keith Higgins Jr. and Tyler Whitney-Sidney are averaging 13-plus points for the Mountain Hawks. Higgins Jr. averages 14.8 points per game and 1.8 assists per contest to go with a team-leading 56 three-pointers. Taylor recently reached 1,000 career points and is contributing 14.4 points with 6.5 rebounds per contest while Whitney-Sidney is scoring 13.2 points per outing, and a team-leading 36 steals and 2.2 assists per game, along with 4.7 rebounds.
 
American (15-11, 7-8 PL) is coming into Saturday's game off a 22-point loss on the road at Bucknell, 73-51 for its third straight loss. The Eagles won their first four Patriot League contests before dropping their next four. American is 1-4 in the month of February and is looking to get back in the win column. In non-league action, American has faced two common opponents, falling to Marist (73-69) and defeating Saint Francis (Pa.) (66-55), which Lehigh was 2-0 in those contests. The Eagles went on an eight-game win streak earlier in the year, with wins over Georgetown (74-70), NJIT (58-53) and George Washington (69-64) before Siena snapped their win streak with a 64-61 loss.

American is led in scoring by Matt Rogers, averaging 13.1 points per game and shooting 63.2 percent from the field while Johnny O'Neil is scoring 10.6 points per game and leads the Eagles with 44 three-pointers, 39 blocked shots and 6.5 rebounds per outing.
 
Lehigh leads the overall series with a record of 32-27, and has gone 9-1 in the last 10 meetings. The Mountain Hawks have won the last three games between the two programs with the Eagles' last win coming in Jan. 2020 inside Bender Arena.

The Mountain Hawks return to Stabler Arena for their final home game of the regular season to take on Bucknell. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and Fox Sports Radio 94.7 FM and 1230 AM.
