BETHLEHEM, Pa - The Lehigh field hockey team has a one-game weekend, taking on Holy Cross at 11 a.m. on Saturday in Worcester, Massachusetts.
The Mountain Hawks (8-3) head into the league game 2-0 in Patriot League play. Last weekend, Lehigh defeated Colgate 3-1 on Saturday and then fell 4-2 to No. 20 Cornell on Sunday.
Senior Lotte Smorenburg leads the Mountain Hawks with five goals and four assists. Junior Guusje Hogendoorn tallies four goals and two assists while senior Julia Gatelin contributes three goals and five assists. In the goal, junior Jenny Canoni has started and played in all 11 games, compiling a 1.93 goals-against average and a 0.604 save percentage.
Holy Cross (3-7) is 0-3 in league play. The Crusaders lead the all-time series 21-13, with Lehigh defeating them 3-0 last season. Smorenburg and junior Eleni Kountroubis scored in the victory. Holy Cross picked up wins over Stonehill, Wagner and a 6-1 victory over Merrimack on Tuesday. Katie Guden, Sarah Potter and Maguire Sturgis lead the offense with three goals and one assist apiece.
