BETHLEHEM, Pa. – In their last time out, Lehigh volleyball put the rest of the Patriot League on notice with a stunning 3-2 comeback win over Army West Point. This week, the Mountain Hawks look to ride that momentum as the team travels to Holy Cross on Friday and Colgate on Saturday.
Lehigh (11-9, 3-6 PL) only competed once last weekend, but the team certainly made it count. They welcomed back the 1993 Patriot League Champion team as well as other alumni for the match against Army West Point. Finding themselves trailing 2-0 in sets, Lehigh stormed back to secure their statement comeback victory. Senior Lylah Washington was key for the Mountain Hawks, totaling 14 kills on the afternoon. First-year Ufuoma Omene impressed in her first start since September 29, tallying 12 kills. Junior Megan Schulte leads Lehigh with 271 kills, junior Makena Smith's 515 assists lead the team, junior Kyleigh Brown leads the team with 295 digs while junior Emily Stewart's 88 blocks are a team-high.
Holy Cross (3-15, 0-9 PL) enters Friday's match off the heels of a 3-1 home loss to Bucknell. The Crusaders and Mountain Hawks met earlier this season in Bethlehem in a match that saw Lehigh come away with a 3-0 victory. Holy Cross will be hosting its Deaf* Awareness Game on Friday in which the first eight Crusader points will be accompanied by a silent crowd. Rachel Johnson is the team leader in kills with 199, Sarah Stokes leads the team with 266 assists, Haley Gill's 225 digs lead the way and the leading blocker for Holy Cross is Sanaea Simmons with 44.
Colgate (15-5, 8-1 PL) came into last weekend having been undefeated in Patriot League play. That all changed when they traveled to American University where they fell in five sets to the Eagles. The Raiders and the Mountain Hawks squared off in Bethlehem on September 17 in what was a 3-0 victory for the Raiders. Gillian Hauschild's 189 kills lead Colgate, Sydney Jones leads the team with 445 assists, Rachael Martinez's 265 digs are a team-high and the leading blocker for Colgate is Sophie Thompson with 107.
Friday's contest against Holy Cross will begin at 6 p.m. while Saturday's match at Colgate will begin at 3 p.m. Fans can watch both matches on ESPN+ or follow along on live stats (Holy Cross, Colgate).
