Lehigh Sweeps Bucknell to Start 1-0 in Patriot League Play

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh opened Patriot League play with a 3-0 sweep Saturday afternoon, defeating Bucknell 25-16, 25-20 and 25-17 at Grace Hall. The Mountain Hawks improved to 8-1 overall and 1-0 in Patriot League play, hitting .311 as a team while recording 42 kills, seven service aces and 20 total blocks.

Mary Massias led the Mountain Hawks with 13 points, recording eight kills, three service aces, one solo block and two block assists. She hit .500 on the afternoon and added six digs.
Ufuoma Omene and Alysia Fingall each recorded nine kills, while Olivia Lasee, who entered the weekend 14th in the country in blocks per set, averaging 1.52, added six kills and a team-high five block assists. Paighton Erb contributed a career-high six kills while hitting .400.

Abby Felkai and Grace Slovensky teamed up to lead Lehigh's offense, with Felkai recording 16 assists and Slovensky adding 17. Sophia Bond anchored the defensive effort with 11 digs.
"We got a really good performance from our middles today. They were really effective offensively and did a great job at the net. Defensively, we were on point and did a great job as a team," said head coach Shawn McLaughlin.

Set 1 Lehigh (25-16)
Lehigh opened the match with a strong offensive performance, hitting .333 with 18 kills. Omene and Fingall each recorded four kills, while Massias added three as the Mountain Hawks took an early 1-0 lead.

Set 2 Lehigh (25-20)
The Mountain Hawks continued to control the match in the second set, earning a 25-20 victory. Lehigh recorded 12 kills and hit .194, with Massias leading the way with three kills. Omene and Lasee each added two kills.

Set 3 Lehigh (25-17)
Lehigh closed out the sweep with a dominant third set, hitting .500 with 12 kills and just three errors. Massias and Erb each recorded three kills, while Fingall added two as the Mountain Hawks completed the 3-0 victory.
