WASHINGTON - Lehigh fell to American in five sets Friday night, 25-23, 21-25, 25-20, 18-25 and 15-12. With the loss, Lehigh slides to 9-2 on the season and 2-1 in Patriot League play. In the match, the Mountain Hawks recorded 60 kills, four service aces and 22 total blocks while hitting .221 as a team. With the win, American improved to 8-4 on the season and 3-0 in league play.

Ufuoma Omene, who surpassed the 500 career kill mark last weekend, led the Mountain Hawks with 14 kills, adding six digs and six total blocks. Alysia Fingall followed with 12 kills and nine digs, while Natalie Luscomb recorded 10 kills and four digs. Mary Massias added nine kills and 10 digs.

The setters for the Mountain Hawks, Abby Felkai and Grace Slovensky, combined for a season-high 49 assists, with Felkai leading the way with 28. Once again Sophia Bond led the way defensively for the Mountain Hawks, totaling a season-high 25 digs, while first-year Paighton Erb had another solid performance, recording eight kills on 12 attacks with just two errors, hitting .500, and adding seven total blocks.

American was led by Salme Hollas, who recorded 17 kills, while Elise Sterling added 14 kills while hitting .394. The Eagles finished with 68 kills and hit .215 as a team.

Set 1 American (25-23)
American took the opening set 25-23. Lehigh recorded 13 kills and hit .130, while the Eagles finished with 16 kills and hit .215.

Set 2 Lehigh (25-21)
The Mountain Hawks responded in the second set, recording 17 kills while hitting an impressive .400. American recorded 13 kills and hit .188 as Lehigh evened the match at one set apiece.

Set 3 American (25-20)
American regained the lead by taking the third set 25-20. The Eagles recorded 18 kills and hit .371, while Lehigh finished with 13 kills and hit .257.

Set 4 Lehigh (25-18)
The Mountain Hawks forced a decisive fifth set with a 25-18 fourth-set victory. Lehigh recorded 12 kills and hit .216, while holding American to 12 kills and a .125 hitting percentage.

Set 5 American (15-12)
The Eagles closed out the match with a 15-12 fifth-set victory. Lehigh recorded five kills and hit .053 in the final set, while American finished with nine kills and a .182 hitting percentage.
